Yesterday on my way out of the office i ran across the 944 newsstand up here at the plaza and this cover caught my eye and took me back to a time where street art and wheat paste intersected circa 2003. The Los Angeles icon Shepard Fairey has built an empire of clothing and media based around the “GIANT” iconography. Now we continue to see the evolution of Shepards artistic reach, its still great to see that he “gets up” in the city, the only question i have is if he still is the one jumping fences and scaling walls, i know that his crew is deep. I know that Shepary has inspired many to cover the walls of this great city with statements and amazing imagery and i continue to see that poster art is alive and well with new artists rising to the call and going to greater heights to challenge one another.
I just want to thank the crew over at 944 for always supporting MOSLEY TRIBES with amazing editorial featuring the Merchant (above) and the Burke (below) dont sleep on these styles, they are heaters for the summer.
I met Jonathan Ikemura a few years ago when we were shooting a video for MOSLEY TRIBES with the social trust and Jon was the videographer back in 2009. Since then Jon has been flexing his creative skills in Illustration, Photography and video. Just caught this photo on the web this morning via his FB account and had to post it, love that MOSLEY TRIBES is a designers brand and that creative individuals recognize how timeless the Lyndel is, MOSLEY TRIBES Eyewear truly fuses style and function. Glad to see Jon flexing the Lyndels as an optical style.
Yesterday I ran into my good friend BJ (Crooks) down on the Plaza and he was with one of the Crooks team riders Mark Contreras at the Crooks & Castles HQ. Come to find out that Mark is from Newport Beach and has been surfing since really young, and after watching his current video i can see that he has pure raw talent because he can rip. Here at MOSLEY TRIBES we are all about supporting our local homies and Mark is for sure one of them. Mark had a minute so he came upstairs and was super stoked to try on the MOSLEY TRIBES Burke in Tortoise. Be on the look out for Mark surfing his local breaks of Newport and San Clemente.
For the last few weeks here at the MOSLEY TRIBES HQ we have known about the great placement of the Red Bromley in the upcoming blockbuster film The Hangover II. We have caught a few glimpses of it in the 2nd trailer that was released, but today while i was driving in to the office I caught sight of a billboard that was promoting the new collectors cups at 7-11. From my vantage point i could make out what looked like the Bromley on the face of Mr. Chow ( actor Ken Jeong). As you can see below Alan (actor Zach Galifianakis) is also wearing the same frame, I think that Alan starts the movie with the frames one and halfway thru Mr. Chow com-endears them.
Also featured in this movie is the OLIVER PEOPLES Benedict worn by Phil (actor Bradley Cooper), we never expected to get such great consumer press like this. So go out and get yours, they are great for your office or low pro beach beverage.
We want to thank our amazing PR team and Jamie Katz for the great work.
Here’s a gem of track from two of our favorite songstresses; Santigold and Karen O. Entitled “Go,” the song features Nick Zinner on guitar and production from Switch, Q-Tip and Santi herself. The new Santigold album, from whence this track sprang, is due out later this year. Life + Times has a solid interview for those looking for more info. (viaHighSnobiety)
Every season we partner with our close allies when it is time to shoot a new brand book and visual assets. We are thankful for the support of our local family from APOLIS ACTIVISM, GOURMET, and TIMBERLAND for outfitting our crew and models in the correct clothing and footwear for our trip. Our global comrades from France, Bell & Ross supported the Summer 2011 campaign with functional submersible timepieces for our expeditionary endeavor to Kauai. The watch featured above is the Marine BR 02 44mm in Carbon PVD and Steel finish with rubber wristband. This Dive watch is built like a tank and withstood all the elements that Kauai had to offer. Below are some of the shots that feature both watches in different areas of the island.

I had the pleasure today to catch up with the homie Darin Maki. Darin is back in LA from Japan where he lives and plays basketball professionally for the Tokyo Apache. He has be rocking MOSLEY TRIBES for a while now and it is always good to hear whats good in Japan. It was really interesting to get a first hand account of what went down in Tokyo during the earthquake. Darin said that it shook for a really long time and that he ran out of his building down on the street and it was completely crazy with glass falling, bricks and power lines all over the place. Darin got out 5 days after the quake to come stay with his fam here in So. Cal. We wish him and all our Japanese family our prayers.
Still in the shoe game.
Check out this video where Darin talks about his shoe collection.
Day Job.
The Hayes in Black and Gold are the new look. Thanks Buddy.
On the streets of Buenos Aires, we caught Matt Bellamy lead singer of MUSE rocking the Beaded Lyndel, nice to see that it is still making its way around the world. A little closer to home, Joe Jonas was see wearing the MOSLEY TRIBES Burke in Military Green in the streets of Hollywood, great look guys.
This past week i had a minute to cruise to Downtown LA to see an old friend and check out the new mens line G.P.P.R. Bam Barcena is the Designer and Founder of this line that reiterates masculine style, attention to detail and comfort. Bam has a long history in fashion and it is great to see him come out with his own line that really reverberates his vision and style. In the studio you can see his influences everywhere, what caught my eye was the 10 hole Doc Martin Steelies with the white laces, it is funny how the past has caught up with me. I believe that both Bam and I grew up loving the Ska Punk scene (circa 90’s) of So. Cal. and the style that was present then emulates from the designs and colors of that era. Below is a great song from the past that will play along nicely with this post.
I have to say that this line is paired with great wovens, jackets, and denim that really give this collection a well rounded look.
Full Japanese Demin that was so soft and broken in, goodbye A.P.C / Love the paper canvas hang tag great detail.
Studio coffee table, inspiration all around, and semi-rimless is always a good look.
Its rough in the streets.
Here is a sneak peek at next season, the denim jacket is on fire. Peep Revolve Clothing for current collection and pick them up.
