MOSLEY TRIBES for LAMAR ODOM | Diamond Edition

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

Mosley Tribes has teamed up with LA Lakers’ Power-forward Lamar Odom to produce two one-of-a-kind Diamond Editions of the ‘Dunn’ frame from the current summer collection. The over-sized, double-bridge aviators are hand-crafted of hypo-allergenic metal in a large square shape. One is plated in 18KT Gold and the other in Black Rhodium.

Both include Poly-Carbonate lenses and are adorned with .35 carat VS1 diamonds along the reinforced top bridge. Air-Tech nose pads automatically adjust volume of air for a comfortable fit and hand shaped acetate temple tips provide maximum grip and comfort. The temple hinge is embossed with the Mosley Tribes logo. Each will be available at auction and 100% of the proceeds are to be donated to CATHY’S KIDS, A LAMAR ODOM FOUNDATION.

Work Now, Sleep Later

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

I just cleaned my desk.

Just want to shout out Bart, Erik, Kevin and Kim over at 530 media for the dope hat that they sent me. 530 teamed up with hat retailer Hall of Fame to create this piece that is simple and impressive. I have always loved the Owl logo that 530 has used. When i think of an Owl it brings ideas of wisdom, knowledge and timelessness. All these traits is what goes into 530 media lab over in Long Beach California, If you know this crew you know that there knowledge of web design and lack of sleep go hand in hand. This is the one stop shop for all your web based needs, there client list is impressive and extensive. Peep there website and become educated.

The RootBeer EP “Pink Limousine”

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

I would describe the sound of this new collective called ROOTBEER featuring Pigeon John and Flynn Adam as something like “MGMT injected with some N.E.R.D and A Tribe Called Quest”. As clearly evident in their lyrics and style, Flynn Adam and Pigeon John are unapologetic purveyors of popular culture. Rather than making an escape attempt on this debut to something that was some subtle artistic departure from the Lost Angels-flavored West Coast underground laid back rap that raised them, the duo has grown more apt to fully open their arms and embrace a vast array of what is relative to their own contemporary culture consumption today. Here is the cover art and inside sleeve featuring MOSLEY TRIBES, thanks for the love guys it is a great look.

GINGHAM by A.P.C

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

The crew here at MOSLEY TRIBES is a big fan of the Gingham Fabric. Here is a little history lesson on our favorite woven. Gingham made its first appearance in the 17th century, where it was imported to England and then migrated to the American Colonies. Originally, using two different color fibers to produce a striping effect created gingham. But as time went on, gingham fabrics began to appear that had a checkered pattern, as well as plaids. Blue and white was the color combination of choice for many years. And now APC has released a parka that is sure to be a staple in anyone’s closet.

Coming to Brentwood near you.

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

MONOCLE: My favorite magazine is finally bringing there retail location to LA. What great news! Tyler Brule’s world renowned title covering arts, politics, ideas, fashion, and far beyond, celebrated year 2 since its inception in 2006. Already, Brule’s baby is a bona-fide brand for the culture conscience tastemaker. Following the success of the first Monocle shop in London’s Marylebone last year, the brand will open a new store in Los Angeles on Monday, April 6.

The Brentwood location of The Monocle Shop at 225 26th Street, Suite 19b, will feature new collaborations between the brand and designers, like the Comme des Garçons’ Hinoki candle, a unique sweatshirt from Tomorrowland, and a high-tech running kit created with John Smedley. “Monocle is opening a shop in L.A. for a variety of reasons,” said Brule. “One is the location. We were offered a great space in a high traffic area which possesses a similar demographic and ‘community feel’ to our Marylebone store in London. Two, we think L.A. provides a great opportunity for us–it’s a pop culture hub and evidence from our subscriber base suggests we have a ready-made market out there. Also, our online Monocle shop is already popular on the West Coast, particularly the Orlebar Brown Swimming Trunks and the Porter Bags.”

Brule will throw an intimate launch party with several members of his team, more info after the jump.
