Inspired by the elements of Native American arts and culture, Mosley Tribes proudly presents the newest addition to the Lyndel sunglass category, the hand beaded temples.

IMG_0590

Patterned after Native American hand woven blankets, both temples on the black Lyndel are individually hand laid using brightly colored ceramic beads. The frame design is retro-inspired in an angular plastic cut.The keyhole bridge accentuates the softly contoured lens shape while the frame front sports retro pin detailing. Hand beaded by Jenny Dayco, the former graphic designer and talent agent is self-taught in the art of jewelry designing and works in stinctively from the gut while her hands brilliantly produce each and every single piece. “I just love making things that are insane and fantastic, pushing my own understanding of beauty and adornment on the body,” Dayco gushes. “I love creating pieces that make people feel confident and bring them joy.” The Beaded Lyndel will be produced in limited quantities and will be available at exclusively at Oliver Peoples Boutiques at Sunset Plaza and Soho and select stores nationwide July 2010

Janelle Monáe brings the feeling of Motown back to the forefront, it has been a minute since i have been impressed by a music video.  The art direction and influence of the Motown Soul era permeates the music and visual imagery by director Wendy Morgan.  There are many elements from the early Jackson 5 that i can hear and see. Enjoy this one, i know you will.

WWD-(Japan)-MT-10-09[1]

Synposis of WWD’s Oliver Peoples Special Issue

The Oliver Peoples Tokyo Gallery, Oliver Peoples’ sole store in Japan, is an attractive place that provides exclusive service and limited editions available only in store.  To add to the already inviting environment, Oliver Peoples Tokyo Gallery also handles its own custom compilation albums to create a unique and personal atmosphere.  Recently, Oliver Peoples is introducing very special, hand-crafted, luxurious optical frames made of buffalo horns finished with rich texture: the Kramer, the Ruskin and the Killian.

Oliver Peoples has been gaining momentum and creating buzz like none other with collaborations with a Hollywood actress, the sale of an original CD and special optical frames made of buffalo horn, part of their Vintage collection.

Mosley Tribes hits the streets of Japan with a trendy, edgy, urban look.  The brand, started in 2005, is the son of Oliver Peoples and offers affordable price points, a pleasant aspect in the current economic situation.

Larry Leight, founder of Oliver Peoples and Mosley Tribes, was born in Hollywood, California.  Known for being an astute, talented businessman as well as a craftsman with integrity, he is also just an everyday man with a young spirit and a passion for surfing.

Mosley Tribes is a brand inspired by sport culture, street luxury, and classic style.  The brand strives to be bolder and edgier than its parent brand yet still retain its roots detail and style.

Frames described in the article and depicted in the images include (in order of appearance from the top), Free City 2 in red/black checkers, Gates in yellow, Lyndel in yellow gingham, Cheyne in black, and the Shooter a Maharishi/Mosley Tribes collaboration.

Let me introduce to you the MOSLEY TRIBES intern.  I met Stephen back in March on a rooftop in Manhattan, NY at the OLIVER PEOPLES/MOSLEY TRIBES loft.  Later on this year he would hit me up and ask if he could intern over at MOSLEY TRIBES.  He had expressed to me that he wanted to learn the ropes of the street luxury eyewear game and understand what does it take to run and manage a brand like MOSLEY TRIBES.  So I thought it over and  asked him what his goals were and what skills he could offer the MOSLEY team, I am excited to have a person assisting me in the behind the scenes work here at MOSLEY TRIBES. Currently he is honing his skills in all the latest design programs and getting his feet wet on the day to day of what goes on here at the OLIVER PEOPLES offices.

Mini Bio: The name’s Stephen and I hail from Santa Ana, Ca. A small town kid with big dreams, one idea that I strongly believe is that you are only limited by your own imagination.  I am pursuing my B.A. at UCI – zot! zot! – and one day I hope to work in the creative field.

Local Greetings

Monday, November 30th, 2009

So i know that the posts have been lacking for last week, I was out literally.  I caught a cold and had to retreat to my casa for much needed rest.  So i came across this video which visually kept my spirits up.    This song by 30 Seconds to Mars is amazing and really visually  portrays Downtown and the counter culture that is close to my heart. Enjoy this end of the year anthem, i cant wait to get on my bike and ride.

PSP

So i get into the office today and there is a package on my desk, to my surprise it is from Sony, the new PSP GO was enclosed.  I have been a fan of the PS platform since the PS1 came to market.  Currently the only game that play religiously is the ” Call of Duty” series but i am looking forward to Uncharted and SOCOM.  The multi-player function for the PS3 Platform is amazing and the seamless integration of the internet game play is really superior to any other gaming platform.  So i am really stoked on trying out the PSP, the last personal gaming device that had was the Gameboy…ouch. The PSP has more than just games cant wait to use it to watch movies and music when i travel, have to say many thanks to the homies at Sony.
