So our good friends at RVCA have taken over Sal Barbier’s old spot (SLB) on the corner of Streetwear and New Era (Fairfax & Rosewood to out of towners) and bringin with them good vibes and great designs. Paying a visual homage to Frank Lloyd Wright’s celebrated design for New York’s ‘Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum‘, the newly opened ‘The Wright‘ Restaurant and Bar, located within the 1950s architectural classic, is designed by ‘designers to watch’, Andre Kikoski Architects. Taking a clear visual lead from the exteriors sleek, innovative design, the restaurant’s opening commemorates the 50th anniversary of the museum and is a fitting tribute with it’s contemporary design and cosmopolitan mood, ably assisted by British artist Liam Gillick’s wonderfully vivid commissioned installation. Seasonal, local and sustainable ingredients form the modern American menu which includes mouth-watering delights such as “Dry Aged Beef Sirloin with Bone Marrow Port Shallot Marmalade” Amazing.
If you are in SF anytime soon you definitely need to stop by the BLVCK SCVLE gallery on 55 Grand Ave 2nd Floor for all the goods you see below. I love the hidden messages and iconography and symbolic references to things past and present. There is a lot of time and thought that goes into each piece of clothing, read, learn and understand.
So we are back from a long 10 or so break for the holidays, and for the first day of work in the glorious year 2010 i decided an alternate mode of transportation. This morning i got up and road my single speed Crooks and Castles x SE Racing bike from my home to the train and then to the office up here on Sunset, the 14 plus mile ride was tough with only one gear but i needed to burn off the all the Rib-Eye Roast, tamales and other delicacies that i took down like a champ. So as a good faith gesture to exercise more i turned to riding and navigating the underground train here in LA, definitely not as time efficient as i would have liked but my heart rate was not complaining. So i hope your week will go well and that we make this year a productive, profitable and enjoyable, cause we all know the 09 is old news.
Interesting, love the super clean look of the woodgrain, prob would have gone with matte black bindings. This is def a novely item, i wonder who made this for Chanel. Here in LA it has been cold and has actually got down into the high 30’s in So. Cal, that is cold for us Angelinos. And Nor. Cal has been getting dumped on Tahoe, Mammoth, Sugar Bowl, all of the High Serria’s, winter wonderland. Time to carve.
I am a big fan of G-Shock, and not because of there recent collabs, been wearing this rugged watch since ‘93, this watch is indestructible. I would wear it constantly and subject it to salt water, when diving and body boarding it was great to know when the change ran out on my meter at El Porto. The G-Shock Frogman is getting a major upgrade this year with an even bolder appearance and a new stainless steel case for added durability. The watch boasts dive-specific features such as a dive time measurement mode, dive time log, and a tide and moon graph for tide tracking. It also features a six-band atomic timekeeping receiver and Tough Solar rechargeable battery.
