This week, the first showing of “A Native Perspective”
For their Summer 2010 campaign, Mosley Tribes teamed up with LA-based multi-media group, The Social Trust, to create a featurette documentary, spotlighting the region and the characters that inspired the brand this season. This 15-minute short will focus on the art-centric metropolis of Santa Fe, New Mexico, a scenic wilderness wonderland influenced by local Native American culture. The color selection of laminates, lenses and textures used in the Mosley Tribes 2010 Summer/Fall collection reflect the region and some of the enigmatic personalities who call New Mexico home. Highlights include interviews and commentary with artists of Native American descent who reside and work in the area. Darren Vigil Gray, a prominent artist renowned for his abstract landscapes and portraits, allows the Mosley Tribes team exclusive access to his studio to observe and document some of his creative process. Also featured in the film is renowned contemporary painter Tony Abeyta incorporates bold colors, rich textures and representations of Navajo deities in his work. Both share thoughts and stories about the history of their craft and discuss how the Santa Fe region affects and inspires their work.
It has been six long years since David Choe has shown in LA, this show is going to be epic. If you dont know who he is you better find out. One of my favorite artists out there, see you in Beverly Hills on 4\22.
So here is the trailer to a documentary that MOSLEY TRIBES has put together with the help of The Social Trust. More details to follow, have a great weekend.
Santa Fe, New Mexico captures an essence much overlooked in today’s fast-paced lifestyle. In a world where we are so driven to “do”, we often forget to simply “be”. The rich soil, lush landscape, and crisp air reminded me of the fact that there is a much larger world outside my own. What a refreshing change of scenery. It wasn’t all sightseeing though. Mosley Tribes in conjunction with The Social Trust handled business for the upcoming Mosley Tribes Fall/Winter 2010 season. Here are some pictures taken along the way.
I know that i have not posted in a minute so here is a quick recap of the last 2 weeks. So me and the crew from The Social Trust decided to not go to PROJECT trade show and actually go to a place that doesn’t not shorten our life on this earth. We drove from Los Angeles to Santa Fe, NM which took us about 15 hours to get to, with intermittent stops to out of the way towns, abandon buildings, meteor craters, and Wendys. So I really don’t want to give it all away but the reason for our trip was to get in touch and understand the rich native culture and art of the south west. The hub of this artistic revolution is in the pueblo of Santa Fe, New Mexico which was our final destination. So we have a few films that will be coming out in the next couple weeks. Stay tuned.
So MOSLEY TRIBES has teamed up with NATIVE SON, RED WING and TEMPLE for a Mens Fashion Week event in New York this coming week. NATIVE SON produced with the help of Eric Gray Davis an amazing 3-D film that will be debuted at the event next Thursday. MOSLEY TRIBES also is releaseing a collabortive frame for NATIVE SON that will be availble this summer. Product Shots to be coming soon.
