A new shoe store is opening in Echo Park this week (Dec. 11th to be exact) and the brand list has already got me anticipating. Most of these brands are usually found trickled in apparel stores with limited sizes and styles. As this store’s main business is shoes (for both men and women) I’m excited to see the wide assortment of the following favorites: Slow and Steady Wins the Race, Repetto, Rachel Comey, and in house brand – The Generic Man, etc… Mohawk will also have a select assortment of clothing and accessories as well.

If you’re up for it, tomorrow is the grand opening party from 7pm – 9pm.

By now we’re all just about very well aware on how over flooded this market is with product that is disposable (I hate to say it but it’s true). Every now and then people will release garments, shoes, footwear (or whatever it may be) that will stand out amongst the crowd. These duck canvas boots are part of the collaborative collection between Keith Hufnagel (HUF) and Dr Romanelli I have to say that it is very interesting on how Keith has moved his product range into something other than a skate driven brand and crossed over to mens contemp. I cant wait to see what else he has in store for us.

Commissioned by Dior Homme creative director Kris Van Aasche, the Paris flagship store of the brand was revamped last week, featuring a new “Butterfly” installation by young Italian artist Andrea Mastrovito. Nine thousand black decoupage replicas serpentine across the ceiling and walls of the white boutique, like Hitchcock’s birds.

Zurich based watch maker, Maurice de Mauriac is a youngblood brand in the world of chronographs. Designer, and founder Daniel Dreifuss started the line around 2003 and has been producing some find modern day watches with the same skill and craftsmanship as the legends in town. The watch collections are produced in limited runs but we’re very fond of the Automatic and Modern Chronographs show above. The military inspired Automatic in it’s PVD finish sits well against the 42mm casing. The Chronograph Modern gets the same PVD treatment but gains 3mm on casing – 45mm. Both work off the same Swiss movements and are sure to draw the eyes of the attentive connoisseur.
