The Comm

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

I like to start the day off with a nice dose of smog.

Got to come correct with the tunes, J Dilla Act 2 Stones Throw Podcast! Its brutal out there.

Parked the car, grabbed the MT bike and mashed out to the train station.

Great reading material. MONOCLE magazine, you should try it

This is where being smart became cool and fashionable.

Commute.

Life above ground.

The 3 T’s: Tragic Tourist Trap. Look out for a new edition of Yikes! where we target tourists.

The daily dose. Follow the flag.

Time to mash on the streets.

Sunset Blvd, cool breeze and sunny sky’s it is going to be a good day. Love the rental.

Time to start work.

The goal of todays documentation of my commute was to show how non functional the train system is in LA . If you have traveled to Europe or the NY you understand how well people get around without a car. Not in LA I drove from my home to union station to grab the train: 30 minutes | rode the train for 40 min to Hollywood and Highland | Mashed out on my bike which is a 2.5 mile ride to sunset plaza because riding the bus is crazed , which took me 20 minutes. I thought I would try and do my part to cut down on traffic by taking my car off the road for the commute today. Not sure if it helped.

A week or so ago i watched the film by Sean Penn called Into the Wild. All I have to say that it was one of the best films that i have seen in a long time. The cinematography, plot, and soundtrack were carefully sculpted into one visual masterpiece. Eddie Vedder has always been a favorite of mine and what can i say, he did a great job on the score. All the critical elements of this film were captivating and perfectly interwoven. I indefinitely recommend watching it, I know that I am a year late on this one but I had to post it up. I am a big fan of Emil Hirsch, he is a phenomenal actor, you might know him from his roll in Dog Town and Z Boys as Jay Adams. Check him out in this months issue of FLAUNT Magazine.

Just got back from Milan, MOSLEY TRIBES had a booth at MIDO, which is the International Optics Exhibition for Europe. It is our first international showing. The booth came out sick and was well received.

This is the first installment of Yikes! where we expose sunglass tragedies. This photo I thought was a great one to start off with. Great look Jonas (LRG). The homie from Star Trek already killed that look.

I have been a reader of Vice Magazine for a few years, because of their pursuit of story’s and ideas that do not follow the mainstream media. Recently they created VBS.tv which is a streaming video version of thier print magazine. I have been watching for the last year or so and i find to be the most interesting world news website out there. The current favorite of mine is their report on North Korea, you have to watch it. It is so crazy how these people have been indoctrinated and live.

The Next

The French fashion company Hermès recently teamed up with Eurocopter, the world’s third largest aerospace group to create L’ helicoptre par Hermès, a luxury helicopter. The project began as an investigation into designing helicopters for the discerning luxury traveler. L’ helicoptre par Hermès has a distinct style in the spirit of hermès, the cabin features sliding doors which open to reveal a spacious and tranquil interior. The interior’s pieces were created to maximize the available space. All the main surfaces were covered ‘toile h’, one of Hermès’ signature canvases, which has been used to cover the company’s travel ware since the 1920’s. The seats and banquettes are covered in calf’s leather. The craftsmen used lots of leathers and fabrics to help soften the ambient noise. even the smallest details were modified to create one coherent design. For example, the safety stickers were remade in customized jacquard. the consoles and cabinets of the cabin have all been recessed and hidden to keep the sight-lines of the small cabin as uninterrupted as possible.
