This guy is a genious. We all went to this exhibit a few months back and we’re blown away. It was on one of our first blogs. But this video is another level. Be patient and watch it all, because there is an awesome commercial break in pt. 2.

Hats off to everyone involved in this video, great work. I can’t believe they actually drilled the floor at the Gagosian for this, unbelievable.

Horizons

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

I cruised down to Main St. Santa Monica in the late afternoon today, once the fog had rolled in, to check out one of our accounts and maybe catch a sunset (but like i said, “the fog rolled in”). On my way, I came across Horizons West Surf Shop and thought you should know about. This is the original spot in which Skip Engblom (founder of Zephyr Surf Shop), alongside Jeff Ho and Craig Stecyk started the Zephyr skate team in the late 60’s. The team made famous to the public in recent years by the documentary and major motion picture produced by legendary Z-boy and filmmaker Stacey Peralta. The shop named was changed to Horizons in 1977 when the crew disassembled, etc. etc. go watch the movie. Being a local to Venice for generations, this is a shop that my dad shopped in 30+ years ago, so I’ve been familiar with it for quite sometime. But it’s important you get a glimpse, because this an important Los Angeles landmark that you wont find on your “Star Map.”

It’s possible that this image on the side of the building has been there 30 years.

I’m assuming this is there because Heath Ledger played Skip in the movie and probably filmed some of the movie on or around this shop. But definitely he was very familiar with it.

If ever in Santa Monica check this out. There are many sights around here, don’t miss this one.

WESC and

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

Yesterday after work I cruised to downtown LA from Malibu…which took, oh about two hours. Thats only about 20 miles for those of you not familiar with LA. I was meeting up with my homie Eric from We Are The Superlative Conspiracy or WESC or originally just WE, to check out his office and go to the Lakers/Blazers game. Also meeting up with us were my homies from Venice, one of which just did the new window display for the WESC LA store on Robertson. (Tomorrow I’ll cruise over to that and take pics so you all can see how legit it is.)

Just FYI, its so nice to see a globally recognized brand with such an intimate office setting. The office space is located in the “Reserve” building in downtown LA. It was the original spot where the government held all of its cheese. Government cheese for the “laymen.” The building had tons of bulletproof glass, the original vault where the money was held as well as the circular spinning steel whatever it is that would lower the money underground. The point is the place has some history. The WE office is basically a two bedroom loft that 8 people work in. The CEO literally has the same size desk as the rest of his employees and sits amongst them. I wouldn’t have expected this from a brand that has at least 10 stores worldwide plus quality distribution, but I loved it.

Eric had the Gourmet on…so sick

Ocean’s One

Kobe got T’d up and scored 14 in the fourth after it.

We only had two tickets, there were four of us inside…hustlin’

Victory

Blurry STU LANCE

These two WESC ads are supposed to air on Fuel TV. The air guitar guy is supposedly the world champion of Guitar Hero. Eric said the commercial is 10 times hilarious if you know him.

Lastly, its good to be from LA right now. The Lakers are the best team in the league. Phil needs one for each finger.

Are You

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

I know I’m probably late on this but I’ve never seen this until I randomly found it today. This guy is a french professional dunker who is 5′10 and has a 56 inch vertical. His name is Kadour Ziani. It looks like he’s floating in some of them. I can’t even believe it.

“NY REPRESENT”

Opening reception: Thursday, February 21st, from 6 to 8 pm

“Art is not leisure; art is a utilitarian thing that people can use to find a way into their interior life.

So many people thought that Marcel Duchamp was anti-painting but the fact was that this gave birth to all sorts of different things, whether they are called paintings or not. He created a hybrid that was more specific to our needs as contemporary people.”
–Julian Schnabel

So I am posting this one up twice because i want you to listen to it twice..put you head phones on and turn it up.

Dilated Peoples have to be one of my favorite MC groups, Raka and Evidence mixed up with BABU the perfect balance of true talent. They are an LA staple. The song “BACK AGAIN” has to be one of the sickest songs since “When Worst comes to Worst…” that I have heard in a while! The wordplay and lyricism mixed with the fresh cuts of DJ BABU, wow I had to listen to this one twice. ” Think different, outside the box, Don’t want a lot of a little, we want a little of a lot..”
