Clear skys over the APOLIS compound

So on my way in to the office I had to stop off in Downtown for a minute to see the Parton Brothers, Raan, Shea and Stenn of APOLIS ACTIVISM. They just did a pop up store on Traction Ave for the holiday season in the artist district of Downtown LA, it is right around the corner from their design studio. It is great to see samples of the new line that will be dropping soon, I really love their attention to the subtle details and color. I look forward to upcoming projects with them and MOSLEY TRIBES, stay tuned.

WISH LIS

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

So I was doing the usual morning web commute of blogs and world news and i came across these. I have not purchased any Retro Jordan Brand shoes in a while but these made me jump out of my seat. I love to see American brands doing great things so Levi’s and Jordan Brand teamed up to kill it, these are definitely on fire. These images are credited to Highsnobiety via NikeTalk, and the word on the street is that they will drop in march 08 so get ready for the camp out.

BEFORE

AFTER

All I can say is that it is getting cold outside and we are glad to say that Jon will be keeping his head warm this winter thanks to his new hat. Thanks Meggs for the photos and enjoy your new Leica jumpoff, it smashes on the iPhoney camera.

Some good friends and I rolled out to the Hundreds holiday party at the “Censorship is weak as Fuck” exhibit on Fairfax last night. Saw some familiar faces and threw back some familiar drinks…check it out

My favorite piece there…

Apparently when World Industries used Jason Lee and the Whopper for an advertisement and as an image on one of their skate decks, the King had serious issues and contacted his lawyer. I guess he thought it wasn’t kosher?

He calls it “lower case on the bottom.”

Canvas B

Monday, December 17th, 2007

Canvas Boutique and Art Gallery is quite possibly the best new retail spot that you likely don’t know about. Nestled away in Malibu’s one and only country mart, Canvas exhibits the ideal retail experience. With a down to earth environment and modern and tasteful architecture, it’s like your in a contemporary/luxury ma and pa fashion boutique. Everyday your likely to find store owners Arlington and Jack Forbes to guide you through your retail experiences. The store carries the likes of Commes de Garcons, A.P.C., Yohji Yamamoto, Common Projects, PF Flyers, Stussy, Nike and of course yours truly, MOSLEY TRIBES. Not to mention Clientele such as Anthony Kiedis, Flea, and more. And most importantly exclusive variations of art that you would find nowhere else (check the photos below for examples). However on this chilly but beautiful Malibu night, Sarah and I cruised by after work to help celebrate the launch of the PF Flyers x Canvas sneaker which are limited to 12 total pairs in black and white. See for yourself, the shoe is awesome, especially the Hawaiian flowered inseam that gives it that full Malibu feel. Hats off to Jack and Arlingon…dare I say my favorite store in Malibu…well, I work in one there, so maybe my second favorite.

Limited Edition Pf Flyers x Canvas in white leather.

This Marilyn Monroe photograph is one of one. $39,000. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

This bike? One of one….$98,000

Then after a Jack Daniels filled saturday night…we randomly ran into Rachel from the OLIVER PEOPLES design team at Jerry’s Famous Deli at 2:30 in the morning. I love to throw these little things in, because it always comes full circle, somehow and someway. (I bet the guy in the back didn’t know his ill satin hoodie was gonna make it on our blog…check him out, the big guy’s eating carrots son!)

A Night

Monday, December 17th, 2007

So Friday night was the grand opening of the infamous Crooks & Castles brand’s first retail store on Melrose Blvd. Brenda and I rolled out to check it out and it was definitely on and popping. The architecture is choice and well thought out. The entire location is very unique and those that attended seemed equally impressed. As far as streetwear is concerned, Crooks & Castles is one of the most on point brands out there, always keeping it fresh and innovative. I expect this store to hit the streets hard, especially considering the location. Congratulations to the thieves. This was so SICK! This is why C&C is so ill, you would never see something like this anywhere. They’re attention to detail is superior. Violinist playing along to Beatnuts than Gorillaz, ILL!

Buscemi designed that purple longsleeve hoodie with the white chain links. The one about three back. It’s even called the Buscemi and it comes in red too, JB’s got one locked up for me.

An original crook.

Afterwards we were feeling spontaneous and clubbing was out of the question, so we went and got Brenda a tattoo on her wrist…why not?

The Neig

Friday, December 14th, 2007

When we cruised through around 9′oclock, we could see through an opening in the front door that there was still a crew working on the inside. I just couldn’t help myself, I knew the front door had to be open so I quickly opened it, jumped in and snapped a shot. One of the guys managed to yell, “no photos!” but the damage was done. This store is just gonna be to legendary, we have to post it.

It had been a minute since Patrick and I had done a Korean BBQ night and last night was the perfect opportunity. I learned a valuable lesson last night about Korean BBQ, “quality over quantity.” I had become so acustomed to this all you can eat Korean BBQ place called Manna (which I still believe is rather delicious however pales in comparison to CHO SUN) that I forgot to realize other Korean BBQ’s may exist too. I was like a kid in a candy store, I think I can speak for PW on that one to. The food was so good, the meat so tender, and Korean pancakes were so….buttery! The bathroom had a mouthwash dispenser and the quality of everything was just so superior. I of course have always known that quality over quantity generally reigns supreme, but since my first ever Korean BBQ experience had come in this 2007 year, I guess I just had a one track mind for it. Anyway, after a good talk about the future of MOSLEY TRIBES, upcoming magalogs, photoshoots, and product, PW and I were looking for something to do, so we shot over to the new Melrose jumpoff for a sneak peek at a revolutionary brand’s first retail store…
